6 Fun Activities to do in LA this Summer

Things to Do in LA This Summer

Looking for some summer fun?  Check out these 6 events going on this summer in Los Angeles! These events are subject to change, please check the organizers first before going!
LA Walking Tours - DTLA Architecture:
Starting with Beaux Arts, Italian Renaissance and transitioning to Art Deco, you will view the architectural history of Los Angeles by walking the Financial District, Historic Core and the main thoroughfare of Downtown LA, 7th Street!
Picnic at the Hollywood Bowl:
This gorgeous outdoor amphitheatre has been hosting concerts since the LA Philharmonic first played here in 1922. It boasts a stellar summer lineup and a pretty generous BYOB policy that lets you bring some wine and beer to nearly every performance. Follow the link below for a full primer to picnicking at the Bowl.
Watch a Movie at Hollywood Forever Cemetery:
It isn’t summer in L.A. until the first cemetery screening brings hoards of movie-lovers to Hollywood Forever, toting folding chairs, picnic blankets, snack spreads and lots of booze. Each year, Cinespia brings classic cult favorites to the hallowed resting place of such Hollywood greats as Rudolph Valentino and Bugsy Siegel. It’s an L.A. rite of passage, a quintessential summer experience, and one of the best film venues in the city.
Grand Park 4th of July Block Party:
Celebrate the Fourth of July at the annual celebration at Grand Park and the music center featuring games, art-making, music, dancing, and a stunning fireworks show high above Downtown L.A. Two stages featuring DJs and live musical performances will entertain audiences throughout the celebration. Fireworks usually begin at 9:00 p.m. from the roof of The Music Center’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. The event offers a multitude of dining options from more than 40 vendors. This event is free and open to the general public. (The 2022 event is not confirmed yet. Please come back again for details.)
See an Outdoor Concert at Grand Performance:
This epic (and free) outdoor concert series features live performances by artists from around the world at the totally overhauled California Plaza stage in DTLA, where the shallow water separating the stage from the audience has been replaced by a proper event lawn (though seating will be limited to the amphitheater). Don’t miss a diverse and highly intriguing mix of bands, DJ sets and dance parties.
Stuff your Face at Smorgasburg LA:
We’ve missed the Sunday strolls through dozens of restaurant stalls and pop-up shops, but thankfully, Smorgasburg L.A. is coming back. The food bazaar and gathering place temporarily closed—along with practically everything else—in mid-March of 2020, but now it’s really, finally back starting July 4th. Every Sunday you’ll once again be able to find dozens of food vendors at the event’s home in ROW DTLA.
